This is a children’s book about two dogs, Rocky and Splash, and a lighthouse keeper’s family. Rocky is a male Great Pyrenees and Splash is a female Newfoundland. In the first book of this series, Rocky and Splash were rescued from a sinking ship off Cape Candy Cane, Maine in 1900. The crew of the sinking ship gave the pups to the young son, Toby, and daughter, Becky, of the widow lighthouse keeper, Minnie, who saved the crew’s and dogs’ lives. Rocky, Splash, and Becky later save Toby who had taken a boat out to sea in a storm.In this Christmas-time sequel, we learn about life at the lighthouse and the challenges brought by a strong winter storm. What appears to be a forthcoming sad Christmas Day is turned into a joyous one thanks to thet brave lighthouse dogs and their family. This book is appropriate for grade school children and is suitable for therapy dog reading and educational programs.
